Hot Topic - Worship

by Eunice,

In our (very) small congregation, I am responsible for the choice of our congregational worship songs and play the piano almost every Sunday. Since I became a Christian as a teenager I have always wanted to offer my musical gifts to God and to His Church. Having always been in small congregations (except when I was abroad) I quickly became what we could name a "worship leader". Even though my "team" was composed by two or three persons. I have always tried to find a (if not "the") good theology to justify my ministry. I have followed a lot of ideas, to finally come back to the Cross.

I believe that our personal and corporate worship must be cross-centered. Therefore I believe that the only reason why we can sing unto the Lord is because he gave His son to save us and to welcome us as His children.

Below a (short) teaching by C.J. Mahaney, president of
Sovereign Grace Ministries:

Please, do not draw conclusions too quickly when it comes to the point that we cannot approach God in worship apart from having Christ as our mediator. Just listen and I encourage you to read in your Bible all you can find about worship and the Cross.

C.J. Mahaney, what a passionate man! Just look at him and listen to his tone!
